Support Federal 21st CCLC Funding for Afterschool & Summer Programs
This month Congress will pass one or more spending bills to fund the federal government for Fiscal Year 2011. These bills will include funding that supports afterschool, before-school and summer programs through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative. A proposal under serious consideration would allow those funds to be used for other purposes.  For more information about the proposed language, please review YCC’s July 28, 2010 Action Alert, here.

Members of Congress Considering Vote on Immigrant Children Educational Benefits
It's looking increasingly likely that the Senate and House will vote on the DREAM Act this week or next.

The DREAM Act would give some young people brought to the U.S. as children a pathway to earned citizenship, and make it possible for them to access college and student aid.  These young people graduate from high school and find the doors to their future slammed shut. We can change that.

It is a bipartisan bill with both Republican and Democratic sponsors that will not only improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people, but also help our nation and our economy.
